I’ve put together a list of books and other resources that have helped me in some way or another. There are many more, but these are the ones that I refer back to.
All About Love: New Visions by Bell Hooks– Learning to use love as a verb instead of a noun. This book charges its readers with the task of operating from a love ethic. If you read one book this year, make it this one.
The Underground Church by Ched Myers– This book brings forth a way for Christians to recapture the spirit of the early church by putting an emphasis on what they do rather than what they believe.
God of the Oppressed by James H. Cone– Black liberation theology based in the experiences of black people.
Transfaith — A national nonprofit led by trans* folks that focuses on issues of faith and spirituality.
Anarchist Reverend— This is the writing of Shannon (Shay) Kearns, a trans* preacher in The Old Catholic Church of the Americas.
Black Girl Dangerous— This is a blog meant as a forum for expression for queer and trans* people of color. Mia McKenzie offers no-nonsense, critical analysis of the world and society. It is razor-sharp, and cuts deep more often than not.
